ACTIVITY REPORT, APRIL – SOCIAL ACTION IN WOMEN PRISON

BACKGROUND

The Miraflores Women’s Prison is a women’s penitentiary in La Paz, Bolivia, that houses only female inmates. It is a high-security prison with limited capacity, and it often houses more inmates than intended, in addition to their children.
At the request of the inmates, we decided to carry out a social activity at the prison. Thanks to the support of volunteers and sponsors, we were able to raise enough money to buy cleaning supplies and Bibles to prepare 120 bags of supplies to be distributed among the prison’s inhabitants.
Additionally, the Getsemaní Church cooked 150 meals to be distributed that same day. Together with a team of volunteers, they carried out the shopping, assembly, and preparation of the food, as well as the distribution and evangelistic event at the prison.

OBJECTIVE

To evangelize and carry out a day of social action with all the female inmates of the Miraflores prison, in addition to supporting their economy with the delivery of food supplies and a Bible.

ACTIVITY PERFORMED
For two weeks, cleaning supplies and materials were acquired, as well as Bibles to assemble 120 bags that will be distributed at the event.
Volunteers from the Gethsemane Church organized the shopping and assembly, and also arranged to purchase 140 Bibles at a discounted price.

On Wednesday morning, a team of twelve volunteers went to the Miraflores prison to hold an event. We were met by prison security, searched, and our cell phones were confiscated, so we were unable to take photos of the event.
As soon as we arrived, the inmates were invited to listen to Pastor Carlos Montaño sing. While ministering through song, he preached the message of salvation and hope they had been waiting for.
The entire team dedicated themselves to counseling the inmates. There were conversions, and several people came to know the Lord.
We distributed a plate of food to each person, along with a Bible and a bag of supplies containing:

– Toilet paper

– Soap

– Detergent

– Toothpaste and toothbrush

– Shampoo

– Small soap

– Biblical materials and a Bible

120 inmates received the supplies, and some were also given to the prison guards. Dozens of inmates requested prayer and thanked the volunteer team for their gesture and moral support.

GRATITUDE

It is a privilege to serve others and a duty to remember prisoners. Thank you for the support of Pastor Butch Guidri’s ministry and the contributions and support of missionaries Carlos and Lorena Montaño. We are grateful to all the volunteers who sustain this ministry with their donations, prayers, and service.

God bless you.
