BACKGROUND
The Tsimane indigenous communities are located in the Amazon region, nearly
600 km north of the city of La Paz, Bolivia. These are highly isolated areas with a
unique culture regarding social organization and way of life; the people primarily
engage in hunting and fishing.
An Assemblies of God church is located here, dedicated to bringing the Gospel to
the local inhabitants. Despite challenging circumstances—such as economic hardship,
a lack of roads, and limited access to education—the local people have embraced the
Gospel and live according to the Christian faith.
OBJECTIVE
To implement the “Good Samaritan” project in this area with the aim of strengthening
families in their faith, providing social support through gift boxes, and discipling local children and leaders.
ACTIVITY CARRIED OUT
A team of four people traveled for 18 hours to reach the Tsimane community—specifically
the Betanzos sector—where 59 children from various families gathered to participate in the
Good Samaritan project.
Over the course of eight days, the team conducted Bible classes for the children and provided
them with study guides. In the evenings, they visited parents to support the church’s pastoral work.
Upon completion of the eight-day discipleship program, a small graduation ceremony was held for
the 59 children, featuring worship and games. Local families and parents were invited; as a reward
for completing the program, each child received a gift box, their study guide, and a Bible.
The gift boxes contained cleaning supplies, school supplies, and toys. Church leaders and parents
expressed their gratitude for the collaboration; we were able to encourage church members and
provide social support to the community.
