Activity: Delivery of construction materials to churches
Beneficiaries: Four churches currently under construction
BACKGROUND
The department of La Paz, Bolivia, has a large population of believers; the proportion of believers is particularly
high in the city of El Alto. Consequently, new churches are constantly being established.
Due to municipal policies, there are no specific structural or legal guidelines for opening a new church; one simply
needs to gather a group of believers and find a meeting place. As a result, many churches lack their own buildings
or are currently in the construction phase.
Through the initiative of Pastor Carlos Montaño, contact was made with four pastors who are currently building
their church sanctuaries and hold property titles in their denomination’s name. The aim was to provide them with
construction materials to assist in the erection of their church buildings.
OBJECTIVE
To provide construction materials to four churches that meet ownership requirements and are
actively engaged in the construction of their sanctuaries.
ACTIVITY CARRIED OUT
The missions team surveyed and followed up on requests from pastors whose churches were under
construction. Key requirements included:
– Property ownership had to be in order; specifically, the property had to be registered in the name
of the denomination to which the church belongs.
– Construction had to be actively underway.
– Churches had to be located in outlying areas and demonstrate limited financial resources for the
construction of the sanctuary.
Four churches were selected, and a budget of $500 per church was allocated for the purchase of
construction materials. The beneficiary churches were:
– Jehová Jhire Church – Pastor Eduardo Sarco
– Elohim Church – Pastor Juan de Dios Chino
– Huellas de Cristo Church – Pastor Remberto Mamani
– Ríos de Agua Viva Church – Pastor Julio Cesar Tito
The following materials were delivered to each church:
– Jehová Jhire Church: 40 pieces of ½-inch rebar
– Elohim Church: 58 bags of cement
– Huellas de Cristo Church: 40 pieces of ½-inch rebar
– Ríos de Agua Viva Church: 2,000 bricks and 34 bags of cement
Materials were delivered to each church throughout the day; the pastors and their congregations welcomed us with gratitude, which encouraged the congregations to continue with the building project.
