BACKGROUND

Curiza is located in the lowlands of the La Paz department, approximately a 20-hour journey from the city.
It is a small community where residents subsist on fruit production and the sale of spices. Two years ago,
the missions team helped establish a small church in the area; thank God, there are now families who are
part of the congregation, and new members have been baptized there. Due to a lack of roads, residents
cannot transport their harvests, resulting in poverty. For this reason, the missions team will organize the
“Samaritan’s Purse” project in the area, distributing 68 gift boxes, Bibles, supplies, and clothing to the residents,
while also taking the opportunity to strengthen leadership and evangelize families.

OBJECTIVE
To implement the “Good Samaritan’s Purse” project in Curiza with the aim of strengthening families in the faith,
providing social support through gift boxes, and discipling local children and leaders.

ACTIVITY CARRIED OUT
Five volunteers traveled for over 20 hours to the community of Apolo; they then hired a private vehicle to take them on a
three-hour journey to the village of Curiza. The local pastor had already gathered more than 60 children at-risk socially so
they could benefit from the Good Samaritan program. Three volunteers conducted daily discipleship sessions with the children
in a local home’s courtyard; each child received a study guide, while two other volunteers assisted the pastor by visiting families
and strengthening the local leadership. After a week of work and the conclusion of the discipleship program, a graduation ceremony
was held for the 68 children—a lovely event organized by the volunteers. Several parents attended the ceremony and accepted
the Lord into their hearts; additionally, as a reward for completing the program, each child received a gift box, their study guide, and a Bible.
The gift boxes contained cleaning supplies, school supplies, and toys. The pastor, the leadership team, and the community were deeply grateful
to the volunteer team for their efforts in reaching this remote, hard-to-access area.
